The Mission Call

I finally got my mission call on Wednesday, November 6th. After 2 and a half weeks I was very anxious and very excited. The mail came around 2 and my mom and I went to pick up Callie from school. Austin and my dad came home and I was ready to open it! We knelt as a family and my dad offered a prayer. Then I read my call.

Dear Sister Hammond:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Argentina Salta Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 months.

You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. You will prepare to teach the gospel in the Spanish language.

I was elated! Argentina is perfect for me and I could not be more grateful to spend 18 months of my life serving and teaching the people there.

This picture captures the moment perfectly. I have never felt the spirit so strong than when I read my call.

Around 6:30 I invited my family and close friends over so I could announce where I'm going. All day I felt so loved. I am so blessed to have so many great people in my life who support me.

So let the preparation begin! I will be posting frequently before my mission and then my parents will take over. Argentina aquí vengo!
